I earned my bachelor\u2019s degree in Psychology from University of Memphis, my master\u2019s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from University of Memphis, and my doctoral degree from Adams State University. I&#8217;ve provided license supervision for more than a decade. I started practicing in Missouri and then later in Texas, earning supervisor status in both states (I have since left Missouri). With a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and years of clinical and academic experience, I\u2019m here to help you build strong clinical skills, navigate ethical challenges, and grow your confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-theme-secondary-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:25px\"><strong>Important Aspects of License Supervision <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Supervision is more than a checkbox on your path to full licensure, It\u2019s a critical phase of professional development shaping your identity as a counselor. Great supervision blends structure with support and offers a balance of formative and restorative outcomes. In other words, you\u2019re not just learning skills. You\u2019re learning how to sustain yourself in the work. You can expect to receive ongoing feedback, explore your clinical instincts, navigate ethical dilemmas, and strengthen your ability to care for clients while also caring for yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A strong supervisory relationship is key. Research shows that a safe, respectful relationship between supervisor and supervisee leads to greater clinical skill and stronger confidence (self-efficacy) in practice. Regular observation of your skills, through case discussion, recordings, or even role plays, builds competence in ways that textbook learning alone cannot. You\u2019ll also grow in your ability to reflect, process feedback, and build awareness of your strengths and blind spots. Supervision provides not just accountability but mentorship. It\u2019s a space where growth happens, challenges are welcomed, and development is the goal, not perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-theme-secondary-color has-text-color\" style=\"font-size:25px\"><strong>What to Expect in Supervision<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:1.5\" class=\"\">When we begin working together, I\u2019ll take time to understand your background, goals, and clinical experience so we can create a personalized supervision plan. I follow a developmentally focused model, which means we\u2019ll tailor your growth process to where you are now and where you want to go. I offer 50% individual and 50% group supervision, with small group sizes to ensure you are seen and supported. Individual sessions can be in-person or remote; group supervision is most often held virtually for accessibility and flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"line-height:1.5\" class=\"\">You can expect to be held to professional and ethical standards, including those of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.counseling.org\/docs\/default-source\/default-document-library\/ethics\/2014-aca-code-of-ethics.pdf\">ACA Code of Ethics<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/bhec.texas.gov\/\">Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council<\/a> state board. Our work will involve active participation, honest feedback, and a collaborative mindset. Sessions may include case conceptualization, exploration of countertransference, direct observation methods when possible, and strategies for both clinical competence and personal sustainability.
